Recipient for the 2018 Dr. John Harden Scholarship Scholarship

The Cannon Memorial Auxiliary announced Eryn Smith  as the 2018 Dr. John Harden Scholarship recipient. Eryn is a senior at Pickens High School. She is involved in her school and the community through various sports, committees, and work. She has been accepted to Lander University Honors College for the fall. Eryn plans to obtain an undergraduate degree in Biology with an emphasis in Pre-Med. She plans to continue her career as a Physician Assistant for her graduate studies. Congratulations Eryn!

The Cannon Memorial Auxiliary offers an annual $1000 scholarship to a graduating high school senior and/or a member of our community already in the medical profession or continuing their education in the medical field. This year’s recipient have their scholarship money paid directly to the school of his/her choice. 2018 marks twenty-two years of awarding this scholarship by the Auxiliary volunteers.

Community support for the scholarship is encouraged.  Donations can be made in honor or memory of an individual and specified for the Dr. John Harden  Scholarship.  An acknowledgement of the donation will be made to the donor and family of the person honored.  Please submit checks to the Cannon Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and specify the money go towards scholarships.

Deadline for 2018 applications: Closed

2019 Application will open in January 2019.

In addition to the completed application, the Cannon Memorial Hospital Auxiliary requests 3 references and an essay of no less than 100 words.  For high school applicants, only one reference may be associated with faculty or staff at their school.

Eligibility requirements for the $1000.00 Harden Scholarship:

  • Graduation Senior at Pickens High School
  • Graduating Senior at Liberty High School
  • Graduating Senior at Lakeview Christian School
  • An employee or active volunteer at AnMed Health Cannon , their spouse or a child age 25 or younger that is starting or continuing their medical career.
  • An employee of a physician, eye care, or dental practice in Pickens or Liberty starting or continuing their medical career.
