Trang “Sam” Lusk, FNP-BC, BC-ADM, attended the on-campus, top-ranked graduate nursing program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she earned a Master of Science degree in Nursing (MSN). She subsequently completed a specialized internship at Endocrinology Specialists in Greenville, South Carolina.

Sam is board certified by the American Nurse Credentialing Center with a specialty in Family Medicine.  She is also Board Certified in Advanced Diabetes Management (BC-ADM) from the American Association of Diabetes Educators.

She is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and South Carolina Nurse Association Advance Nurse Practitioner chapter. She currently serves as an elected board member, education coordinator and speaker for the Upstate Nurse Practitioner Association. Sam is actively involved, advocating for the improvement of the profession at the state level in Columbia, SC.

She also serves as a preceptor for nurse practitioner students from Clemson University, Medical University of South Carolina, University of South Carolina, Vanderbilt University, Anderson University South Carolina and other universities.

Sam has a special love for practicing diabetic care, performing minor office procedures, and keeps up with current treatments through continued study from the American Diabetes Association, American Association of Diabetes Educators, American Association of Nurse Practitioners, American Society of Addiction Medicine, Nurse Practitioners in Women’s Health, Upstate Nurse Practitioner Association local chapter and others.

Prior to joining Cannon Family Practice as a Nurse Practitioner, Sam’s work experience includes Hospital Charge Nurse (RN), education mentor, and preceptor for RN nursing students in the Brain Injured, Stroke and Orthopedic, 98-bed unit, at Wake Med Rehabilitation Hospital in Raleigh, North Carolina, a nationally accredited rehabilitation hospital; Charge Nurse (RN) in the Orthopedic unit of University Community Hospital, Tampa, Florida; and Chemistry Lab and Mathematics instructor at Hillsborough Community College in Tampa, Florida.

In addition to her graduate degree, Sam holds undergraduate degrees in nursing and chemistry from the University of South Florida. Her hobbies include traveling, gardening, reading, water sports and hiking. She enjoys time with family, and is very active in her church, where she serves in several leadership roles.
